This is the third studio album from Leon Redbone. No one is sure where he was born -- but he grew up in Toronto. As a teenager, he performed around the city, honing his style -- which relies on jazz-inspired versions of old vaudeville tunes and hits from the early 20th century, performed in a casual -- some say lazy -- way. Eventually, Bob Dylan heard him and was so impressed he told Rolling Stone magazine about this unusual singer from Canada. The magazine responded with a profile article -- even before Redbone had a record contract. That changed in 1975 with the release of "On the Track" - followed a couple of years later by "Double Time". By the time this record came out, Redbone had created a cult-like following. Fans not only enjoy the music, they like the stage shows, filled with humor and great musicians -- and in the center of it all, Redbone in his trademark Panama hat and dark glasses.

I've had this record for years and years. It's a perfect album to play when things get a little stressful -- Redbone's laid back style is contagious. The vinyl is excellent -- a few minor pops -- but nothing very audible. The cover shows only a little ring wear and the original plastic inner sleeve is excellent.

Don't have a time machine? Let Leon Redbone take you back 100 years - when music was about hanging out with some friends on the porch, playing the tunes of the day ... and spending a lazy afternoon.

I rate each recording's quality only after carefully listening to the entire album.

Every LP has been lightly cleaned. All pictures of album covers in my listing are of the actual albums themselves.
