"Shouldn't your baby's first doll be a Gerber Baby?"

This sweet authentic vintage Gerber Baby Doll was made by Atlanta Novelty, a division of Gerber Products Company in New York.

This doll has had only one owner before, (my grandmother) and was recently brought out of storage and given to me. It comes with a set of "boy" clothes, and the bib and skirt show in the pictures for the "girl" clothes. These are not the original clothes for the doll, but rather made and gathered by my grandmother later on. There is also 2 sets of socks and one pair of white lace up shoes. The eyes swivel from left to right when you move the doll, giving its its trademark "flirty" look which was not common for advertising dolls. This doll was created to celebrate 50 years of Gerber Baby Food. It was introduced at the American Toy Fair in February, 1979.
It is 17 inches tall. Her arms, legs, and head are vinyl. her molded hair is sandy brown.

There is minimal wear on the doll, including a bit of paint on the hair that has slightly rubbed away, and a scratch on one of the eyes that you can see in one of the pictures. Other than that, it is in fantastic condition, and I spent a great deal of time carefully cleaning the doll to its current condition.

It also comes with an original slip of paper that explains how the eyes work, as well as thanking you for the purchase. My grandmother had also collected a few articles in some doll magazines stating interesting facts about this neat little doll.

I have seen this doll brand new and in its original package selling for over $150 on another site, and it is in fact a doll that was hard to find when I searched for it to compare prices. I am not sure if it is really that rare, or if people just love them so much they never get rid of them! Either way, this is a great find!

Great for the beginning collector, and a wonderful gift for a young girl!
