Bridget found this magnificent rare late 19th Century painting banner. a beautifully painted scene of an angel rocking a baby in his cradle. it is probably once used as a banner in a play, somewhere in a theatre, chapel or church. it is attached to a wooden stick which used to be part of a patented roll-up system as you can see in one of the attached pictures. on the bottom there is a thin metal bar to keep it in place
The sunning scene has been painted on linen and it's still in pretty good condition, of course it has wear and some discoloration but that gives it a certain shabby appearance.

Sizes: the length is about 80 inch and the width of the wooden stick is 55.90 inch, the painting's width is 54.33 inch
