Here is a marvelous study of the famous French painter, Ingres (1780 – 1867). Featuring the well known works of this artistic genius. A neoclassical painter, Ingres was a prolific artist. He painted his time for his time. This is the French edition (this is not an English translation).
By the end of his life it was Ingres's portraits, both painted and drawn, that were recognized as his legacy. A man profoundly respectful of the past, he assumed the role of a guardian of academic tradition.
The lovely edition features more than 50 tip in plates mostly color. The plates are lush and the colors bright.
The book measures 7 by 7 inches. The listing photos give you a sampling of what is inside.
