This engagement ring and wedding band set are perfect for those of you who want something a bit different in your heirloom jewelry. Even if you are not readying yourself to say 'I do', this is a striking set of specimen rings which will make any finger happy.

This set of sterling silver rings is built around gorgeous custom-cut pieces of druzy. The druzy is very sparkly, and changes tones depending up the light and angle from which it is viewed. Please see the final photo for the druzy I have available in my studio. If you would like another colour, please let me know and I will do my best to track it down for you.

On the rings you see here, the oval-shaped druzy on the solitaire is 10mm across. The matching centre stone of the multi-stone band is 7mm across. Each of the tiny stones which bookend the 7mm stone are 4mm across. Your druzy stones will be custom cut by me, so will be approximately the sizes I used on this set. The exact sizes of the stones depends on the size of your finger.

The sterling silver bands are each 1/4" wide, and are 18 gauge in thickness. The rings are finished in a fine hand-brushed texture. Once soldered together, the bands spent a few hours in my rock tumbler. This process hardens the metal and makes for a more enduring finish. I am able to complete your custom ring set in any finish- polished, brushed, hammered, microhammered, tree bark, or wave. Please see my ring sections for texture ideas: http://www.etsy.com/shop/elseetee2?section_id=6181822 and http://www.etsy.com/shop/elseetee2?section_id=6181822

The druzy stones are all epoxied into their bezels using jeweler's epoxy.

Druzy, from left to right:
Thunder Bay amethyst (rich, bright purple with small red iron inclusions)
glossy, dark grey
cinnamon- sugary warm orangey-brown
deep, inky purple (SOLD- no longer available but I can try to source more if requested)
icy white with small black flecks
cornflower blue (is much more 'cornflower' in real life)

Frequently asked questions about Specimental

I am always open to hearing your design ideas. Please contact me through the shop, or at treloar@telus.net to discuss design possibilities.
If you are unsure of your ring size, the best way to be sized accurately is by visiting two commercial jewelers. Please ensure they size you using their thin sizing tools- not the wide band sizing tools, nor by having you try on rings from their display.

If any questions arise around being properly sized, I am always happy to help- contact me through the shop, or at treloar@telus.net
All of my pieces come ready to present as gifts, in attractive foil stamped jewelry boxes, enclosed in a lovely Chinese faux silk gift bag.

If the person for whom you are purchasing the piece shares your address, please be aware of the following: International export law dictates that the detailed contents of packages, and their value, be clearly marked on the outside of the package. This means that if they see the package before you do, they can easily tell what they are being gifted with.

I am happy to ship to your workplace, a friend, or a relative, when secrecy is necessary. The very best option is to have your package held for you at your closest Fed Ex store- if you are unsure of its location, I'm happy to help.
At this time, I do not sell wholesale, nor do I place my pieces on commission.
My gold is all recycled- the metal plant I purchase it from has been in business for over 100 years. They smelt their metals to the highest environmental standards, to cause the least impact on the environment. They do not deal with newly mined metals, as these metals cause much greater destruction to the environment.

There is no visible difference between recycled metals and newly-mined metals. There is also no difference as far as the karat of the metals go- 18k recycled gold is exactly the same in constitution as 18k newly mined gold. The vast majority of my clients prefer their metals recycled, as environmental impact is of concern when choosing the perfect piece of jewelry.
No, I cannot. I am not set up to smelt gold in the studio, so am not able to melt down your old gold pieces for you.
I can use your heirloom stones in a new design. The stones must be pulled from their settings and checked for stability by a professional jeweler prior to shipping them to me.
My current production times are listed in my shop announcement. If you need something more quickly, please get in touch via the shop, or at treloar@telus.net

Depending upon my work and family schedule, I am happy to accommodate your rush orders. There is no additional charge for a rush order. However, please do get in touch prior to ordering to discuss your deadline with me.
Yes! All of my pieces are completely hand fabricated in the studio by me, from raw materials. I am able to create any of my designs with any stone, in any composition. In short, you can have your ring absolutely any way you like it. Contact me through the shop, or via treloar@telus.net to get the discussion around your perfect piece of jewelry started.
