Japanese antique shima dating back to late 1800s to early 1900s.

A fantastic rare find.

Shima is a traditional striped Japanese textile. Artisan made hand dyed and hand loomed ikat cotton. Superior quality. With the soft gray-blue this one is quite distinct from the ones I usually find and would fit into a modern wardrobe very easily.

Natural indigo. 100% cotton.

It was likely once part of a garment or futon cover.

If is very soft and would make a wonderful short scarf.

This is a great example of Japanese traditional boro utilitarian textiles. High quality cotton fabric was treasured by the peasant class and reused over and over again in clothing and domestic textiles. For more information on boro click here:

Otherwise, incorporate into your project.

Length: 118cm / 46.45"
