Brooches (or pins depending on where you hail from) are a bit like 'Afternoon Tea' and learning to waltz - they are old traditions which are really rather fabulous when you revive them and suddenly you wonder how you lived without them. I am rarely found these days without a brooch somewhere about my person - even on my workshop apron!

This brooch is the perfect accompaniment on a dress for a summer wedding or for any outing. It adds a certain 'je n'sais quoi' to a cute little bolero - or like me, just wear it on your apron whilst drinking your afternoon tea! It features two of my favourite flowers - roses and peonies. Perfectly pink and feminine.

I have made this brooch by encapsulating a paper image between a sheet of perspex (plexiglass) and a sheet of silver plated copper. To this I have added 5 sterling silver leaves which have been textured with real leaves. The silver has then been patinated to bring out the leaf structure. It is one of my favourite things to do with silver and it still amazes me that something as fragile as leaf skeleton can make an impression on metal. The whole ensemble is held together with sterling silver handmade rivits. The fittings on the back of the brooch are sterling silver whilst the pin itself is made from steel piano wire which gives good spring and strength.

The paper image will withstand a light rainstorm - but I don't recommend fully immersing the brooch in water. Although, I have put one of mine through the washing machine (by accident) and it was actually ok, but I advise against it.

The brooch is 6cm high by 4cm wide - the thickness of the brooch is 3mm.

It is hallmarked with my unique mark along with the traditional sterling silver marks. I get this carried out by the Assay Office in London. It is your guarantee of quality and authorship.

I will send this brooch out uninsured to keep postage costs down. Please let me know if you would like a quote for insured postage.

It comes gift wrapped in a black box - ready to give as a present to yourself or someone else.
