This is the seventh studio album for guitarist Larry Coryell as a band leader. Over his fifty year career, Coryell was one of the leading architects of Jazz Fusion -- back when there wasn't even a label for his kind of music. This record, like his previous releases, mixes elements of rock and funk with jazz; there are even a few moments that can be called "avant-garde", when the sound is one of well-orchestrated mayhem -- with high energy harnessed to produce excitement. A hallmark of this recording is the perfect synchronization of each band member -- especially the solid link between Coryell and Soprano Saxophonist Steve Marcus. This communication among musicians is what jazz is all about.

I've had this record since it was released. Much of it is perfectly noise-free; but I noticed a very few mild "pops" on side two that knocks this down to Excellent. The cover is Very Good Plus -- i.e., it is solid but shows some wear from being in storage. It has the original inner sleeve -- also Very Good Plus.

Jazz continually reinvents itself; this is a snapshot in time when many adventurous musicians were experimenting with new kinds of music and new kinds of sounds. One of the pioneers was Larry Coryell - and this is a great example of his explorations in the early 1970's.

Condition Code:

5: Near Mint
4: Excellent
3: Very Good
2: Good
1. Fair

I rate each recording's quality only after carefully listening to the entire album.

Every LP has been lightly cleaned. All pictures of album covers in my listing are of the actual albums themselves.
