Description

“Dark clouds bring waters, when the bright bring none.”

The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which is to Come is a famous Christian allegory written by John Bunyan (1628–1688) and published in February, 1678. Bunyan began writing it after a dream he had whilst imprisoned in Bedford gaol. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of religious English literature, has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print.

Oxford University Press originally published this edition in 1904, with this copy being a reprint from 1952. It has a number of illustrations by George Cruikshank, a comprehensive biography at the beginning and a full index at the rear. With an excellent red leather binding and white ribbon page marker, and overall in very good condition.

In more detail: inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. There is some very mild foxing to the outside edge and the endpapers otherwise no tanning or foxing inside at all. The top of the closed pages are gilt.

The red leather has remained in lovely condition and the front and rear boards have a blind stamped border and little sign of any wear. The spine has some mild rubbing of the leather at the head and tail. The spine remains bright red having not sun faded at all with a very attractive gilt floral pattern and lettering which have retained their sparkle.

A gift quality vintage edition, Pilgrim's Progress will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon.

H 19cm X W 13.5cm, 382 pages, 0.52 kg. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. Further shipping information can be found in the shop policies section if required.
