Description

Mid 20th Century cased willow green glass vase, from the Whitefriars glass company. It is pattern no 9655 from 1964.

It was designed by Geoffrey Baxter and was in the 1966-1974 catalogues.

This tapering vase still has its original Whitefriars label and 'as selected for the Design Centre London' label which makes it more rare.

Whitefriars glassworks began in 1834 when James Powell bought a glass factory in the Whitefriars area of London. At first the company produced industrial and scientific glass as well as stained glass windows.

The vase is:

24cm (9.5 inches) high;
6.5cm (2.5 inches) wide at the base;
5cm (2 inches) wide at the rim;
and weighs 1Kg (2 pounds).

The vase is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or bruises.
