3. "Owls"
4. "You Don't Have to Need Me"
5. "Lost John"

This is the fifth studio album by one of the most respected guitarists today. It's a follow-up to his album "Mudlark" -- but unlike Mudlark, which relied heavily on bass and drums, this album is purely solo guitar. It showcases his uncanny finger-picking and slide ability -- matched with his casual vocal style. Critics argue that the later CD release wasn't mastered as well as this vinyl recording.

I've had this record since its release. The vinyl is quite good -- virtually noise - and pop-free. A couple of random pops prevent me from calling this "Near Mint". Not in near mint condition is the cover, which shows some shelf wear and some mild staining. The inner sleeve is very good.

I've owned several of Kottke's album over the years, and have always liked this one for its laid-back vibe. You'll still hear some of his signature machine-gun guitar bursts -- but the overall sound is relaxed and a wonderful way to spend 35 minutes.

Condition Code:

5: Near Mint
4: Excellent
3: Very Good
2: Good
1. Fair

I rate each recording's quality only after carefully listening to the entire album.

Every LP has been lightly cleaned. All pictures of album covers in my listing are of the actual albums themselves.
