Description

I love moths... I can't say I love Spiders... I admire them!
Even if you don't like them... probably, because of some unjustified fear... you have to agree they are quite amazing...

When the spider is a Black Widow, all the fear is justified... they are dangerous... in fact, deathly is the best word to describe them.
This patch was inspired by an unlucky moth, caught on a spider web... a wonderful creature able to fly graciously, yet so fragile...

What if that spider was the most dangerous of spiders? Well, in this embroidery, a Black Widow caught a careless moth, in its wings you can see the face of death... the spider was not moved by its beauty... probably, felt envy instead...

This patch was hand embroidered in light gray linen and in three different colors of felt (red and two different shades of gray). Between two of the layers I applied a brass ball chain to give it a little bit more interess and texture... I love the contrast between the mat fabric and the slight brightness of the embroidery with the strong glow of the metal... warmth in opposition to coldness... softness against hardness... light versus heavy... I think by now you already got the idea! The same dichotomy can be perceived by the vibrant three-dimensional spider, powerful and full of life, and the discolored moth, exhausted and defeated.

Please note that because of those layers, the volume of the spider and the metal details, the patch can only be stitched on to a surface - it's a sew on patch - not a iron on patch! The ironing wouldn't be effective and this way you will avoid damaging your ironing iron.

It's a one of a kind piece... as always... I don't like copies, it's boring, and most of all, when I make things, I have to give them as much of me as I can, so I enjoy making them and I've got to make them unique, so the person who buys them feels special. That certain object was made specifically for that person who felt the need to own it... it's just a thought that helps me saying goodbye to things that took me so much time to make!

Finally, dimensions... it's about 14 cm/9,5 cm... or, if you prefer inches, it's about 5,5 in/ 3,7 in .

The Patch will fly to it's new home as soon as possible in a hand painted wooden box... let the box be a surprise... if you're too curious check out my Instagram acount to see previous works... it will be something similar.

If you want to turn it into a brooch or a pendent, please contact me before or as soon as you buy it.
Just as an idea... the ones I kept for myself are framed and they look amazing on my walls... definitely ''eye catching'' and unique! You can get the idea, by looking at that last photo.

Thank you, so much, for reading this description and if, still, you have any doubts, please, feel free to contact me, I'll be happy to help you any way I can.

Have a great day... live an amazing Life!
Have always the will to be (and be) Happy!
