Description

A single deep blue crane soars in the beams of a filigree moon in a pairing that evokes a calm night. This handmade filigree-style wire wrapping shimmers with sterling silver - it catches the eye, while the smaller, subtler crane beneath it gives it swing and a touch of nuance. The less heavy crane makes a greater journey, winging its way around the moon, as the moon calmly hangs suspended in space. The eye is drawn on a pathway from big to small, from light to dark, and each part complements the other.

These earrings are made of 925 sterling silver wire and components - the filigree is hand-wrapped by me with a wire jig and hammer-hardened. the beads are Japanese glass delica beads, some of the prettiest beads I've ever seen. There are also sterling silver spacer beads. The cranes are made of HANDMADE imported Japanese Washi Chiyogami paper. A wonderful combination of wonderful materials.
These earrings are about 7 cm / 3 in from the bottom of the earwire. They are very light.

These cranes will be triple-coated with two kinds of paper sealant, increasing their water-resistance and making them more stiff and durable. They are still made of paper and are thus delicate, and not meant for a swim.

Will be carefully packed and shipped in a cute handmade origami box inside a shipping box.

Payments

Secure options
  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I accept personal check, money order or paypal. If you wish to cancel a purchase please let me know as soon as possible. Purchases not paid within 3 days with no communication will be canceled and re-listed, after two attempts at contacting the purchaser.

Returns & exchanges

Returns and repairs:
I will repair damaged pieces, and return them to their original state to the best of my ability, but I would ask that you pay the shipping costs to and from. If you wish to return a piece, you may do so for a refund of the cost of the item.

Please be advised that origami pieces cannot be repaired. If the origami is damaged, I would have to re-make the entire work to put new origami on it. For that reason all my origami is double- or triple- coated with two different kinds of sealant. It is impossible to make paper waterproof, and I have made it as durable and water-resistant as I can.
I am not responsible for packages lost in the mail if the buyer does not purchase insurance. Please contact me on Etsy with any concerns.

Shipping policies

Orders will ship via USPS, usually on the next (reasonable) Tuesday or Thursday, provided payment has been received. USPS Express or Priority mail are available at additional cost. Please contact me if you prefer one of the latter options. Custom orders will of necessity take longer to ship than others.

I wrap my pieces in fabric and/or place them in a handmade origami box, depending on their size and fragility. I use old newspaper as packing material. I will provide gift-wrapping or a handmade box at no additional cost upon request. Please notify me in the message to seller if the package is a gift and I should not include the invoice.

Additional policies

Don't be shy if you want to ask me for a custom piece. I make art, but a piece is no less unique just because it is made in your favorite colors, is of a size you prefer or includes your birthstone. Please, give me an excuse to do something crazy for you and you won't be disappointed!
