3000 'Munstead Garden' Perennial English Heirloom Lavender Seeds. This variety is named for the plant that was collected and grown by Gertrude Jekyll at her famous Munstead Garden in England. The attached photos are images of 'Munstead' lavender in my field. This planting is about fifteen years old. As you can see, it is uniform in height but varies wildly in color. This was the very first lavender I grew on my farm in Montana and is a hardy genetically diverse variety. 'Munstead' ranges in color from very soft lavender to dark blue. It grows to full, dense, bushy hedges three feet wide and approximately 2 feet in height. Its fragrance is sweet and citrusy and produces a very nice essential oil. 'Munstead' is generally listed as hardy to zone 5, but it is very well established in my zone 4 Montana garden. Of all the varieties, it is the most reliably hardy.

If you are just starting to grow lavender and live in a cooler climate, I recommend starting with 'Munstead' because it is the easiest to grow. For Southerners: my Mom lives in Georgia and it is the only English variety that she has had good luck with. It blooms here the earliest of all of my lavenders; generally the third week of June. This is an excellent honey plant--bees love it. Lavender has hundred's of medicinal, culinary and other herbal uses such as sachets, cleaning products, bath and beauty aids. If you want a fragrant, genetically diverse, blue field, here's where to start. You will love it. Larger seed quantities available--just ask for a quote.

I love Custom Orders but they require more time--right now allow at least 4 weeks from order date to ship date.
Dried Lavender and other flowers should be stored wrapped up and re-sealed in the shipping box and kept in a cool and dark space--away from direct light or heat sources:)
