Description

From a series of 40 outstanding fresh and salt water GYOTAKU images created by fish artist Barry Singer. Using acid free HEAVY natural Cougar cover stock and brilliant high quality inks, this reproduction will last a lifetime. Scanned at high resolution it looks exactly like the original (Shown here at much lower resolution.) No matt or frame is included. 8.5 X 11 inch, can be trimmed to fit an 8X10 frame but would look best in an 11X14 frame with a matte. This print would go well with other art by Barry Singer (last picture).

The Triggerfish gets its name from its unusual dorsal fin. The second spine is connected to the first and when it is depressed, it triggers the unlocking of the first spine. Males dig several nests in an area and then attract a harem of females.
The grey triggerfish feeds on bottom-dwelling invertebrates such as shrimps, crabs, mollusks, sea urchins, sand dollars, starfish and sea cucumbers. It has strong teeth specialized for making holes in hard-shelled prey.

GYOTAKU are considered a thoughtful gift and are believed to bring good luck not only to fishermen but business people as well. The process is fairly simple: Pigment is applied to a real fish. Then cloth or paper is carefully touched to the fish. The GYOTAKU is pulled and a detailed mirror image results. Several images may be made from the same fish, but no two are ever exactly alike. For details on the process visit gyotakuartist.com. I sign each and supply a certificate of authenticity and other details of the art. Each piece is created in a smoke free studio. It will be shipped rolled in a tube. Please see reviews for testimonials.
Ready to ship.
