Description

I made this belt from the same leather, brass roller-buckle and hammered rivets as my own (pictured after about 3 yrs daily wear) The leather I chose is a little under 1/4 inch thick (10-12 oz) and 1 1/2 inches wide. I found that anything thicker tends to cut in if you bend down a lot as I do in the workshop. This thickness is an excellent balance of tough durability and wearing softness.

The belt is vegetable tanned and as such develops a beautiful patina over time. It is cut, dyed, oiled, slicked and burnished all by hand. The edges have not been coated with that sickly, painted on plastic coating so often seen. They have been burnished by hand with beeswax and oils for a smooth natural finish. Sometimes, the hard way is still the best way. The brass rivet is not machine pressed, but carefully peened out by hand and hammer.

I've also chosen to leave off the belt loop. With thicker leather, it ends up looking bulky under your shirt. The tip has about 4 inches of length after the last loop, and mine tucks under my first jeans loop without a problem, leaving a nice clean look with an "English" style tip shape.

This belt will fit a 31-33 inch waist. And will likely last a lifetime. (I may make a full range of sizes in the future so feel free to inquire about sizes).

Made with care and pride at home in America.

*Note: In the pictures, my old belt has a dark ring around the rivet, this is left over from an old snap rivet I had in the past.
