The LEADWING COACHMAN is a famous wet fly that represents olive colored flies in the Catskills Rivers in New York. It can be used anywhere there are dark colored insects. If you ask any fly fisherman what the Leadwing Coachman is, most WILL KNOW THE ANSWER!

I tied this fly because of its history and my love of using it often. It is to be used as any other wet fly. Cast to the water and allow to sit in the water for a few seconds. Then repeat. Any trout or bluegill will be interested in the action! To make things look like a hatch is occuring, tie on the Leadwing Coachman and a few nymphs on the same leader/tippet to look like lots of action and hatching.

I also tie this fly because its history makes it a great gift!
