Description

For your consideration one John Holland Carrara Pattern deep dinner plate.

The hefty 12 sided detailed plate features an Ancient Rome/Greece theme with a central scene which includes a mother and young daughter close to embrace, and a dog.

There are statues, buildings, urns and scenery visable in the background surrounding them.

Four urns and a stylized pattern encircle the outer rim of the plate.

Pattern: Carrara

Manufacturer: J. Holland, (John Holland).

Holland Potteries was a small Turnstall, Staffordshire, England firm that was only in existence between 1852 and 1854.

The diamond registry lozenge is for the year 1852.

Measurements are approximately 10 1/2" across, 1 1/4" high and it weighs almost 2 pounds.

The plate has age related discoloration and crazing typical of its age. There is one small chip on the underside edge, which is not visable from the front. Please review the photos for the best description of this item.

"Carrara" is a popular neoclassical pattern that conveys both a classical and exotic impression.

I inherited two of these highly detailed collectible plates from my grandmother. It displays very well.
