Vintage ad for Timken Tapered Roller Bearings from the 1951 edition of Collier's magazine. Manufacturers of the time often advertised in mass market magazines even though the product was not being sold to individuals.

This ad, in illustrated cells like a strip of film explains how the tapered roller bearing makes the California Zephyr rail is more comfortable and helps freight rails save time and prevent problems such as "hot boxes."

The bottom right corner contains the explanation: Not just a ball, not just a roller, the Timken Rapered Roller Bearing takes a radial and thrust loads or any combination.

In 1890 Henry Timken realized a tapered roller bearing would heap heavy freight wagoins make sharp turns. In 1899 along with his two sons, H. H. and William he founded the Timken Roller Bearing and Axel Company which continues today in Canton Ohio.

Great piece of history for anyone who worked for the company or lives or lived in the area.

Some Foxing and discoloration due to age.

These are beautiful. I love them. They were bent in mailing but seller was very fast in refunding for the purchase. They get a 5 star because the seller was easy to work with and they were exactly as pictured. I did end up able to use them but having them drymounted to remove the creases was pricy! They are so beautiful I needed to find a way to use them because after weeks of searching there was certainly no replacing them!
