This painting, 'Stone wall detail', shows a tiny detail of the top of a drystone wall made of huge slate slabs standing on end, a style of walling that is typical of the slate quarrying areas of Wales. I came across this wall at the National Stone Centre, Wirksworth, which is near here. The edges of the slates have been 'pecked' away, and I was fascinated by how many colours you can see in a slab of 'grey' slate.

The second image gives an idea of how this might look when framed (the painting is being sold without a mat or frame).

The third image shows the companion stone wall painting - that wall is at the seaside in Devon, at Ilfracombe, and can be seen at

The acrylic painting consists of a delicate paint film on canvas and is 7 x 9 1/2 inches. I used some powdered chalk in the paint, so that there are rough bits on the painting. This painting is on a piece of unstretched canvas, so it is ready to mount or pop into a frame.

I ship worldwide. Shipping cost:
UK $4; with another item $3.
EU, USA, rest of world $7; with another item $6.
