Artist information:

Marc Bellaire, born Donald E. Fleischman in Ohio (1925-1994)
Art Education: Chicago Art Institute and LA County Art Institute
Ceramist, Painter, Sculpture, Author

Bellaire was a protege of Sascha Brastoff, a Los Angeles designer, before opening a studio of his own in the 50s. They became competitors.

Bellaire's post-war pottery ceramics were inspired by his experiences in the Pacific islands and Asia during WWII. His pieces were new, fresh, modern, exotic, and colorful with stylized figures and geometric patterns.

In the 60s, Bellaire focused more on his painting and sculpture. In the 1970s he established a studio in Marin County, CA and later relocated to Palm Springs where he opened his last studio and gallery. The Southwest was a strong influence on later work.

Returns and exchange details
Your satisfaction is important to me! In general my policy is no returns. Vintage, antique and found items naturally have imperfections, show wear and tear. They often come from homes with pets and from people who smoked. I clean every item I can. It should be noted that decals, patches, greeting cards and the like can not be cleaned without compromising the article. That being said, I try to provide clear, detailed photos, and attempt to list and photograph all “imperfections”. Pictures are a part of the description. Please contact me with any questions or if you would like additional pictures for any listing. If, I have overlooked something or if for some reason, you are not happy with your purchase, lets talk! If determined an item can be returned, return shipping cost is at the Buyer's expense. Please contact me if you have any concerns or questions.

Shipping policies

I ship within 3 business days of purchase and/or cleared payment.

I am a recycler and use as few new cartons as possible for larger items. They are costly to purchase and force me to increase the shipping cost.

Additional policies

Lay-a-Way Plan! For purchases over $400, you can pay for your purchase in 4 easy payments. 20% of the purchase total (item and shipping charges) is due at the time of RESERVE; this will be held as a non-refundable deposit. The balance will then be split into 3 easy payments, due every 2 weeks from the date of purchase. Once your invoice is paid in full, your purchase will be shipped to you. The fine print – should you decide not to complete a purchase or default on payments the 20% deposit will be forfeited.
