Description

Small leather spine notebook with dusty pink linen covers and recycled brown pages. Beautiful natural colors and a simple unisex overall design. The pages are sewn together with waxed natural linen thread, and the sewing structure extends to both covers, too.

This book was made in the Coptic binding style, but unlike most my Coptic bound books this book has a leather covered spine, which means this book is sturdier and more durable than the basic open spine Coptic binding. This is a book that travels well! The book opens flat, so it's easy to jot down your thoughs and sketches. I know left-handed writers love how well these books open, but I'm happy to take the risk and claim everyone else will love it too. It's simply a pleasure to write or draw in a book that causes minimum hassle.

- 80 pages of 100gsm recycled brown kraft paper suitable for writing and sketching (even plain pencil looks great, but pens and fine markers work too!)
- 10,7x15,2x1,5 cm / 5"x7"x0.8"

Master bookbinder quality, hand made with great attention to detail.

This type of binding was first used by early Christians, the Copts (hence the name), in the first centuries AD. It is the first known codex style binding, a book that consists of folded sheets of paper bound together instead of, for example, simple loose sheets or of paper (or papyrus or parchment) rolled into a scroll. This binding technique isn’t just a quirky old way of making books – many modern bookbinding machines imitate this ingenious way of linking pages together – but a wonderful piece of living history.

FAQs

I don’t currently make any custom order books, and it’s not really something I expect to change any time in the near future. My Aspergers has the most effect on my time and stress management skills (and sadly I find all sorts of negotiation extremely stressfull, even if it’s with nice people about nice matters), and I’ve simply found it’s best for my health to work at my own pace. This way I can always guarantee the high quality of my work I hold so important. Nothing is designed or finished in a rush, so you can trust you’re always getting the best product possible.
Free gift wrapping!

Your order will always arrive gift wrapped in a nice, minimalistic manner, all ready for gifting, or for treating yourself to something special. I also include in my orders a mini bio, as well as a small info about the history of Coptic bindings if your order includes one.

If your order is a gift to someone, I'm happy to include a small note from you to the recipient at no extra cost! Just leave me a message about it during checkout, and I'll take care of it.
