Description

Please read entire description.

*Chang'e is the Chinese Goddess of the Moon. She is the subject of several legends in Chinese mythology, most of which include her husband, Houyi the archer, an emperor, an elixir of life, and of course, the Moon. The legend is the origin of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival celebrated throughout China.

This lovely porcelain figurine was made in Italy by Capodimonte and designed by A.Belcari. She stands on a wood base with a little Belcari name plaque on the front and signed on the back "A. Belcari DEAR 1988."

Capodimonte porcelain is created by the Capodimonte porcelain manufactory, which was established in Naples, Italy, in 1743. Capodimonte is famous for its moulded figurines like this one. My mother had several and this was her favorite.

She stands 13 1/2" (34cm) tall and 4 1/2" (11.5cm) across at the base. She's in excellent pristine vintage condition with no cracks or chips. A really exquisite elegant piece to add to your collection or to give as a gift to a special collector.

I inherited this piece from my mother. She had written the price of $215 on the tag (see 3rd photo) which will be included. It could be the price she paid or a value later (which may be lower.) I couldn't find any other listing of her on Etsy or on eBay so the value may be higher now given her rarity. (I realized after I took the photo that one of the tags is not related to this figurine.)

Please read my shipping and shop policies before purchasing.

The shipping fee is an estimate (depends on destination). If there is less or more than a $3 difference in the fee, I will issue a partial refund, or an invoice to you to pay for the extra cost. This will only be shipped within the US.

****Please give me your US ZIP CODE before purchasing, so I can weigh the unsealed package to determine a more accurate shipping fee BEFORE you purchase. Please do NOT purchase before contacting me.****

This will be very carefully wrapped but I would most definitely recommend insurance for this ($6) as I cannot be responsible for any damages or loss once it enters the postal system without insurance. Contact me first about insurance BEFORE purchasing.

*From Wikipedia: There are many tales about Chang'e, including a well-known story which is given as the origin of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. In a very distant past, ten suns had risen together into the skies and scorched the earth, thus causing hardship for the people. The archer Yi shot down nine of them, leaving just one sun, and was given the elixir of immortality as a reward. He did not consume it straight away, but hid it at home, as he did not want to gain immortality without his beloved wife Chang'e.

However, while Yi went out hunting, the evil Fengmeng broke into his house and tried to force Chang'e to give him the elixir; she refused and drank it herself. Chang'e then flew upwards towards the heavens, choosing the moon as residence. Yi discovered what had transpired and felt sad, so he displayed the Fruits and Cakes that Chang'e had liked, and gave sacrifices to her. See last photo from the Internet.

Returns and exchange details
As most of the items in this shop are vintage, I try to describe the condition thoroughly, with several photos, but you must remember that vintage items are usually not perfect. I feel I provide sufficient information and photos to help you make a final decision. Therefore there are no refunds unless you are very sure it has been misrepresented. In that case, a refund will be made minus the shipping fee, and a $5 restocking fee on items of $20+. You must return the item in the same condition as it was sent to you within 7 business days of receiving it. There will be no refunds on sale items. I only do exchanges in very special circumstances.

I try to wrap all items carefully but If an item is damaged, or lost, in the shipping to you, I cannot be responsible unless you have paid for insurance.

Shipping policies

I usually go to a US post office once a week (I am a bit disabled) or twice a week if I have a lot of orders. I will inform you the day I ship. I always ship through the USPS usually first class with a tracking number in the US, sometimes Priority Mail. Priority Mail includes a tracking number and $50 insurance, for US mail, but it's more expensive.

I try to estimate USPS fees but there are many variables (weight, size, distance, packing materials, etc.), and shipping costs have increased. If I overestimate the fee by more than $3, I will issue a partial refund. If I underestimate the fee, I will send you an invoice for the additional cost which I expect you to pay upon receipt. ***If you want to know a more accurate shipping estimate, send me your US zip code. I will weigh the prepared package first BEFORE you purchase the item and let you know.

If you want to buy several items, contact me first BEFORE purchasing for a combined shipping fee.

***INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING NOTICE*** US postal rates continue to increase especially for international mail. International Priority Mail is more expensive but it now includes insurance for the value of the purchase up to $200, and also tracking. First Class Mail is cheaper but without tracking or insurance. I CANNOT be responsible for late or lost shipments, or damaged goods unless you purchase INSURANCE for First Class Mail! Just let me know which method you prefer, and I will provide an estimate.

IMPORTANT: Before I can estimate the correct international first class mail shipping fee, I must know the destination country (for Canada also postal code) and weigh the prepared package. I will then notify you of the estimated fee. If you decide to purchase, then I will add your location and shipping fee to the listing.

5 Star Positive Reviews on items received is greatly appreciated! This is important to me and other buyers who like to know what to expect. To leave a review, go to "your account" upper right, scroll down to "purchases and reviews", find the order, click on the fifth star, and leave a comment or two.

Your order will be carefully packaged. I try to use recycled materials whenever possible when shipping orders.
