Art Quilt Fiber Collage, original artwork by artist Karen McElfish

Hand-marbled fabric, fiber collage of cottons and silks, raw-edge machine appliqué, free-motion quilting, embellished with hand-etched copper and hand-stitching
12" by 12"
Mounted on gallery wrapped painted canvas

This piece was inspired by the beautiful hand-marbled fabric from artist Lynette Reed (of Bluemoonmarbling) and the fabulous hand-etched copper piece by artist Susan Ploughe. Both reminded me of the southwest, the warmth and intensity of colors.

I wanted a fabric based artwork for a wedding anniversary and found these lovely orchids. The piece is just as beautiful in person with wonderful color and texture. It was also shipped quickly. My wife and I are both delighted to have the orchids hanging in our home.
