Description

Umbilical cord ties are a traditional, gentle alternative to the plastic clip generally used on your newborn's umbilical stump. Umbilical cord ties should only be used on healthy infants born at term.

Made with embroidery thread, a tiny crochet hook and a keen eye, these cotton ties are more comfortable for baby and far less likely to get caught on clothing and nappies. It also won't dig into a caregiver during those precious skin-to-skin moments.

This listing is for a single crocheted cord tie 25-30cm long with a daisy at ONE end.

Please see my shop for alternative designs and colours, including this listing https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/291416857/umbilical-cord-tie-leaf-cord-tie-for for the leaf design shown in the final photo.
Basic braided ties are available here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/186641523/umbilical-cord-tie-for-newborn-baby

For the babywearers among you, I can colour co-ordinate the flower to match the sling you intend to take into hospital with you!

If you wish to sterilise, just boil in water for 5-10 minutes, then store in a sealed bag in the freezer until you go into labour. Home birthers can simply boil them in early labour and leave in the pan until needed. We recommend tying with a surgeon's knot or other tight, secure knot once the cord has stopped pulsing.

I can also prepare a family set so that everyone can have an adjustable bracelet or hair accessory to match baby's cord, please convo me to discuss.

NOTE: In order to keep postage costs to a minimum these will not be sent Recorded post, but proof of postage will be obtained.

* Single-ended crocheted umbilical cord tie.
* Tie is 25-30cm long.
* Custom orders welcome.
* Daisy approximately 3cm in diameter.
