Description

Thank you for taking a moment to leanr more about or HAVOC copperformed blackbird skull ring! This is an actual skull from a blackbird that I came across in Gross Loesewitz in northern Germany during the course of an otherwise typical workday. I could not say how it met it its end, although my guess would be that it flew into the window and thus suffered a fatal injury. I recovered the head and claws and buried the rest in the nearby bushes. I then carefully and lovingly cleaned and prepared the skull to which I fastened the actual ring and then copperformed the entire piece. The copperforming process we use creates a finished piece that rivals solid cast copper in terms of strength and durability but the details are completely preserved, and, well, inside is of course the actual skull. The ring is on the small side, U.S. sized 4.5, and cannot be resized, but we will include a chain so that it can also be worn as a pendant!

FAQs

We are Ian and Nila (@oakandchain and @babywhitewitch). We live and work in Vienna, Austria and in our free time you´ll usually find us happily at work in our cozy little sanctuary. I love to make jewelry and assorted other pieces out of metal and bone... driving poor Nila mad as I bring home all manner of things living and dead into our home like some mischievous crow. Nila loves all things natural, spiritual, and witchy... an amazing seamstress, photographer, painter, sculptress, and dancer... her talent is true passion... she never does anything half-fast. And, OH, what adventures we have...

About ten years ago when I started really experimenting with metal jewelry, copper was my first choice since it was inexpensive and readily available. As a professional electrician I would sometimes spin little links of copper wire on my lunch break and cut links to make crude little chains. I guess it started there. I could work with silver and I might one day, but I love the look and feel of copper, and it just feels... RIGHT. Its hard to explain but as with all personal preferences you just get it or you don´t. Copper also has a unique spiritual and ancestral importance to us, something lacking in other modern metals. There aren´t many "magical" metals, but copper is absolutely one of them.
Nila is an "ancestral white witch". There are witches of all kinds in this day and age, and many of them are either "hereditary" or "ancestral". A hereditary witch refers specifally to a witch to whom the craft was passed down by the mother and/or father, who learned it from their mother and/or father, and so on. An ancestral witch is one to whom the craft was passed through ancestral and spiritual memory from ages long passed, rather than from a living family member. The voices of those long dead continue to speak in whispers to these witches. I myself have psychic abilities and am extremely receptive to non-corporeal energy. I create protective charms and perform card and rune readings.
Many creatures, both whole or their parts, have found themselves turned into the jewelry you see in our shop. Most of these I have found myself in the countryside, already dead I assure you. Some things I have found in local flea markets and curio shops, and some were acquired from hunters who all too often collect so much over the years they tend not to notice when something goes missing. All of these creatures indeed died. Some naturally, some by human intervention, some were outright killed by hunters. There is no way for ME or anyone else to truly say whether their end was "cruel" or not. All we or anyone CAN say is that we take NO life nor inflict ANY cruelty in the creation of our pieces.
Soon we also begin to list some of our potions, charms, and other plant based concoctions and we can assure you that ALL of the ingredients are 100% organic, non-GMO, and/or are plants and herbs we have gathered ourselves far from conventional fields and agriculture.
