Description

Another funky pillow slip dress 18" long , 30 or so inches wide, gathering at the neck with two ties and dropping down to armholes, shaped like a tent dress for those warm summer days. This pillowslip dress is pale orange with red embellishments, the tie is red and yellow adding to the top of the dress, dropping down to the purple section, onto red and finishing with orange honeycomb patterns. This dress is an easy pull on and off dress and will delight any child as it screams fun all over it!

The pillowslip dress really was a flour sack dress which came about in the Great depression- People were very poor and learned to scrimp and save, wasting nothing and using things over again until it worn thin.

Nowadays people are turning more to more to recycling, reusing and cutting costs by being creative, creative was a necessity back in the Great Depression. Clothing was a big problem for growing children and the mothers had to be really creative as they grew quickly.

Flour was a necessity and the flour came in cotton sacks, cotton sacks that the woman received for free when purchasing flour. Flour sack dresses were the norm back then and when the flour makers saw that the woman were using the flower sacks, they decided to make patterned flour sacks which pleased the woman and children even more.
