Silver Remake is my entry in the August Etsy Beadweavers Challenge. The theme for the challenge is Gold and Silver and since I am a silver fan through and through, that was naturally my color choice. I decided to do something with major shine and maximum bling and started searching through my stash of beads, cabochons and focals. I found a pair of silver metal button earrings and a funky silver mesh component from an old broken necklace. These became the foundation of my free form bead embroidered creation. The rest of the design is filled in with silver and gray seed beads and silver glass and metal beads in varying sizes, shapes and finishes to form a lush landscape of textured silver. The whole effect is finished with an outline of gold seed beads. Three throw-away pieces were remade into sparkling newness!
The beadwork is embroidered on a pellon-type backing which is then glued to an aluminum base. The inside of the band is finished with lamb suede for a soft, comfortable fit. The cuff is about 1 3/4 inches wide and the inside length is about 6 inches. Since the base is aluminum it allows for some flexibility in shaping to fit.
