This board features one contoured natural edge and a generously sized hole that will allow you to hang it in your kitchen or dining are when not in use. The cutting surface has figure that is almost three dimensional like a rumpled piece of silk and is streaked by dark lines of naturally occurring spalt.

This single piece of solid hardwood measures approximately 11" x 9" x 7/8" at its widest points and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds. It has been finished with a food-safe blend of beeswax and mineral oil.

Bigleaf maple is common up and down the West Coast of the United States, but figured wood with this much character is rare, creating a truly unique piece. The finished natural edge gives enough suggestion for you to imagine its place in a growing tree.

All lumber for my projects is salvaged from industrial logging operations, backyards, or storm damaged areas.

This exact board is ready to ship. Care instructions (also available in my shop policies http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=9406401 ) are included.

Cutting boards make a perfect gift--wedding, birthday, graduation, thank-you, hostess, or for any other occasion. This style of board would appeal to design sensibilities from tree hugger to logger, rustic to elegant.

If this board is a gift, please include a note to the recipient in the "message to seller," and I will add it to a gift receipt.

Thanks for looking.
