If you are into vinyl like we are, then you know how important clean records are. Clean vinyl enhances your listening experience and extends the longevity of your stylus.

Most collectors agree that a vacuum system that allows dirt an debris to sucked up and out of the record grooves is the most effective method. However almost all vacuum based systems are large and can cost as much as a high end turntable.

But the VinylBug record cleaning machine is different. Our system has been designed to be high quality, easy to use,and affordable.

What makes VinylBug special? VinylBug's cleaning arm includes our exclusive easy-chsnge fabric system that protects your valuable vinyl. It uses soft fabric mesh instead of cheap glued-on velvet strips or rough hook / loop fastener material found in other systems. The fabric is easily cleaned and quickly replaced as often as you like. You can also use other fabrics like microfiber.

Did we mention our ball bearing spindle? Or the threaded record clamp that holds your delicate vinyl safely and securely? Our clamp and platter system touches the record only by it's label. This eliminates clean record surfaces from touching a dirty platter. The surfaces are foam padded to help seal out cleaning fluids that could damage your labels. Vacuum flow is adjustable via an airflow valve on the bottom of the unit.

We also offer accessories in our store including:
1. Replacement Fabric Mesh
2. Optional microfiber pads
3. Additional Cleaning arms
4. An Arm holder that holds two cleaning arms for easy reach

How does VinylBug work? By using the power of a small wet / dry vac (not included), dirt and debris is sucked up and out of your records grooves.

What's included?
- VinylBug
- A replacement fabric mesh for the cleaning arm
- 45 rpm adapter
- Instructions and recommendations

What do buyers of VinylBug supply?
- Dirty records
- Record cleaning fluid
- Distilled water
- Small wet / dry vac with 1 1/4" hose
- Cleaning brushes of choice
- Replacement arm mesh fabric or microfiber

How do you use VinylBug?
Step 1: Set up VinylBug on a table or counter top. You may want to protect your work area with a towel just in case you spill some cleaning fluid.
Step 2: Plug in your wet dry vac and connect it's 1 1/4" hose to VinylBug.
Step 3: Quickly pre-clean your first record with a damp microfiber towel just to remove loose dirt and debris.
Step 4: Place your record onto VinylBug's platter and secure with the threaded record clamp.
Step 5: Apply your record cleaning fluid of choice and gently brush with a soft bristle brush or another microfiber towel. Use VinylBug's record clamp to rotate the spindle as you gently scrub.
Step 6: Rotate VinylBug's cleaning arm into place and onto your record. Turn on your wet dry vac. Rotate VinylBug's spindle until all of the dirty cleaning fluid is sucked up and out of your records grooves. Side one is done!
Step 7: Flip over and repeat for side two! It's that easy!

Each VinylBug is made to order one at a time by Apples & String.

Each VinylBug is 3D printed in high strength PETG. VinylBug's base is fabricated out of 0.375" solid Black HDPE. With 3D Printing, there are always little variations in the print, they have small lines, and minor blemishes that do not harm the intended use of the product.

*Scratch N Dent Listings will be fully functional items, which may have light scratches or dings in the HDPE bases or 3D printed parts. These are cosmetic flaws only, and will not affect the function of the items.

I was planning on purchasing a RCM. I was looking at the Nitty Gritty RCM (the top of the line machine) however, the price was very high, around 1,300 USD. I stumble upon VinylBug read the positive reviews and I am happy to say, that I went ahead with this purchase and saved lots of money. The VinylBug is easy to use, maintain and a pleasure to clean vinyls. I do recommend to anyone who is interested in buying, don’t hesitate and go for it. Make sure you go with the upgrade package for $134. You are going to need a second arm for drying the vinyl. Matt and Jess genius invention will save you a ton of money. This rcm does a wonderful job in cleaning your vinyl. My records sound great. I had a number of questions to ask, and Matt got back to me with answers. Apples and String you have a great product for vinyl lovers. Nice work!

Listening to "Court and Spark," Joni Mitchell vinyl bought new in 1974, and it may sound better and clearer than ever! Yeah, I've taken care of my albums, but the sound heard after using the 'VinylBug' system is beyond my expectations! Love your albums? Get the VinylBug, Arm holder, and lots of Microfiber and Drying mesh. Only question I have is: What'll I clean and listen to next?!! Thanks for the personalized help, ApplesAndString! P.S. - Doesn't that 46 year old record look great? Sounds even better!

I bought the VinylBug recently and am incredibly happy with it. I had a Nitty Gritty (Record Dr) manual RCM which I used for several years, but feel this improves on that in many ways: 1. More positive clamp and better spin bearing, incredibly superior 2. I don't have to flip to vac, can do wash + vac, | rinse + vac on one side w/o flipping 3. Solid 45 adaptor, I only use occasionally, but... 4. Having my choice of cloth material for wands and easy to change 5. Choice of vacuum (I went with the Shop-Vac Micro) 6. Having a second wand for rinse, and the arms lift off/on in an instant Everything about it is very well made, well thought out, well engineered , it checks all the boxes for me. My only want is for a 'holder' for my second arm wand to keep it clean. Highly recommended!
