Description

Handmade using only hand tools and traditional joinery methods.

The staked bench is made from 3 inch thick poplar and red oak. The bench uses a conical mortise and tenon joint for superior strength. Details like wedged tenons into the show surface of the seat and angled legs that are square and tapered, lend to its simple elegance.

This bench is wonderful for seating at a table or against a wall. I usually find myself sitting lengthwise on the bench while at my desk. The thicker seat makes for a very solid bench that is a joy to use.

Unfinished shown. (24" long x 10" wide x 17” high)

Options to Discuss: legs can me made with more or less taper (square and taper shown in pics is thicker at bottom and thinner at top), and can be square, octagonal, or curve shaped; wood can be chosen for more or less figure and grain pattern; finish options can be oil, wax, milk paint, or left unfinished; and dimensions can be adjusted.
