In 20 years of publishing Brainscan zine there is one incredibly important thing in my life that I have not written about, and that is witchcraft. I am a witch and I have been studying and practicing witchcraft for over a decade and it has been a very useful tool in my life and personal growth.
This zine is a not a how-to-witch zine. This zine is an issue of Brainscan that just happens to be about witchcraft told through my personal narrative.
In this zine I explore what witchcraft is, how I became interested in it, how I built my own practice as an agnostic secular witch and how that differs from a lot of contemporary witchcraft. I share a glimpse of what my personal practice as a non-pagan and non-Wiccan witch looks like.
I also examine my personal issues with modern pagan and witchcraft culture addressing things like racism, cultural appropriation, colonialism, capitalism, the excessive gendering of all things. My politics are intersectional and so is my witchcraft.
I also discuss some tips and a few resource for those that might be interested in exploring witchcraft for themselves.

This is my second order from PortlandButtonWorks. I said last time that I'd definitely be back, and here I am again! As usual, fast shipping and great quality on the items. I was sent an extra design of one of the buttons I ordered, a nice little bonus "thank you" from the shop. I had a question before placing the order and had a fast answer from Ms Wrekk, who then included an extra item because of a conversation on another media platform. Basically, ordering from PBW feels like shopping at a local punk shop where the owner chats with you about whatever logo is on your shirt and then gives you a button and a guitar pick they got from a garage band, and once again I can't recommend the shop highly enough.

I have already reviewed this zine here on Etsy so here is why I purchased it again: I gave the original copy I bought to my mom! Looking at it again a couple months later, with a few more things I've noticed the second time around- the construction is mindblowingly attentive to detail. I think Alex Wrekk is planning on scaling back the details (don't know if you decided to scale back the level of construction for future runs, you mentioned something about it on instagram) so anyway what I am trying to say is this: buy it now before it changes. Because it is awesome. And go find my previous review if you aren't convinced, and read the rest of the reviews along the way because who am I other than a zine reader?

Happy Zine Month! Had this zine a year ago and passed it to a friend. I decided to buy it again because it's been my favorite; it aided me in my start to discovering of my own kind of witchcraft. Thank you!
