Description

THIS UNIT HAS NOW SOLD, BUT WE CAN SOURCE AND DISTRESS SOMETHING REALLY SIMILAR FOR YOU... JUST GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WOULD LIKE US TO DO THIS !

Reclaimed Vintage Urban Industrial Chic 1960s Stripped Down and Distressed Bare Steel 3 Drawer Filing Cabinet with Brass Handles and faux brass subject holders... It has a great industrial look to it with amazing patina on the hardware only achieved with time and use.

... This is a bit of a hybrid unit - it's a 1960's model but to make it look more like a 1930's option (which I get a lot of demand for) we added the beautiful brass handles and painted the plastic subject holders with metallic paint to match...

It's very heavy duty and would add an amazing industrial look to your space.

It took me an age to strip the enamel paint off it, but it's totally worth it because the patina of the steel underneath is gorgeous !

I have a unique method of stripping our vintage metal furniture... there's a few people/companies refurbishing similar pieces but they seem to do it with little respect for the quirky characteristics of their items' history - power sanding/sand blasting/acid dipping it all away to create 'perfectly' finished pieces quickly... we hate this look ! There's no sophistication to it, no authenticity, no character !! I don't take any short cuts... I remove all of the heavy duty enamel paint by hand which does take a long time, but it's the only way to expose the true vintage patina which sets my pieces apart...

I didn't strip the inside of the drawers so these still show the original pale green enamel paint, but I did strip the back of this unit... if you would like use to strip the inside of the drawers the price would be almost double, but I can of course do this... the rust on the inside is sanded down and sealed with clear lacquer so it won't spread or come off...

There are a few tiny dents and scratches and in these recesses some of the paint still remains - I purposefully leave it this way to give the piece authenticity and character...

I've finished all of the exterior steelwork with clear wax so you can be sure that it will stay looking just as it is and not rust...

... Newer options don't have the beautiful brass work and I sell these for around £495 - I prefer to keep unstripped options outside as we don't have room to keep stripped ones inside the workshop... please get in touch if you would like us to send you photos of unstripped stock !

This cabinet is 467mm wide x 608mm deep x 1007 high... they are all around this size but they do vary a little !

... please contact us to discuss options... anything and everything is possible !
