RARE FIND.
Antique Japanese sash worn in WW2 to welcome soldiers on their return home.

Hand loomed natural cotton.

Hand painted ink kanji.

Browning is with age while folded into narrow squares.

Unlikely to ever find anything like this again. Extremely rare collector piece.

Difficult to translate word for word. The main part says 'on a fine day..' and refers to Bushu Dairigun (the current Saitama area) Kumagaya Station then the person's full name who the wearer is welcoming home. The second part
is a dedication to Nakayama Kannon, a Buddhist deity of Nakayama Temple.

2.28 meters x 30cm / 11.81"
