Description

*please contact me if you would like postage abroad-I will post but cannot get all prices for all countries for all the quilt sizes to add to the listing*

The quilt top I made here with a mix of squares, rectangles and half square triangles. The pattern is my own and won't be recreated exactly again. It is approximately 42"x 48".

I used a mix of a Dashwood Studio collection, I enjoy using quality materials for a better finished quilt.

I backed this quilt with a beautiful white cotton with mustard butterflies, due to the width of the quilt and the fabric being a standard width it is pieced as shown.

The quilt was quilted by myself on my standard Jannie machine with free motion quilting. I only use Aurifil Threads in piecing and quilting as I find it's high quality and beautiful colours again add to the overall finish of my quilts. I used an orange top thread with a meandering loop design.

I finished the quilt with handmade binding. This is attached to the front with my sewing machine then stitched with a hand needle to the back, mitring the corners. I find this technique does add a lot of time to the making process but the finish it creates is far more aesthetically pleasing than machine finishing both sides.

I add my quilt label, this shows the date and my name, made in Yorkshire, so generations of families will know where their heirloom began.

These quilts are handmade with love, by me, some are shown in magazines, competitions, festivals, by the fabric companies and designers. They are meant to be used, and loved, seen and shown off. Hang them on your wall, throw them on your bed to brighten a room, chuck them over the couch to snuggle under with family and friends while watching a film. Love them and use them. They are all made with quality materials that can be used and washed without being worried they will fall apart. Please, as with everything you wash, follow obvious care instructions, its colourful cotton, throw a colour catcher in the wash just incase and wash and dry on a low heat...any cotton boiled will miss shape-quilts are only the same! When you dry your quilt in a dryer or not it will create a vintage crinkle look...I and many other quilt fans love that...if you don't simply iron it...again, think cotton and set your iron accordingly. Love your handmade item.

All handmade quilts are one offs, even if you ask me to make two or three the same they will all have their differences...little changes in sizes, different loops in the quilting, we aren't perfect and neither in handmade...it isn't supposed to be. I am a true perfectionist and will push to create perfect. If you aren't happy with your quilt contact me, but before you buy remember this is handmade, if you would like the quality checks of mass produced and the guarantees that brings them by all means please save your money for them. If you love love care and true individual pieces made each step of the way by me for you, then this is the place to be!

I love commissions. I adore creating the vision in your mind. No matter if it is for you or a gift. If it takes a million questions to get what you want I will take commissions. Depending on how many I have at the time or what else I am making will adjust the time scale. But get in touch and we can agree a plan to make your perfect quilt.

FAQs

No, simply put, please do not ask me to share other makers patterns. I have paid myself for the patterns I use and where needed have asked permission to sell the made items online. I do not own the other makers patterns and will not do them out of the purchase money they need to continue producing the amazing work they do, so please do not ask. All patterns that are not my own will be linked on the item description, you can gladly follow that and purchase the pattern from them, but I do not give other peoples work away.
