Description

The COMPARA DUN was introduced my Al Caucci and Bob Nastasi in 1975 of their book 'Hatches'. This fly is many fly fishers favorites due to less difficulties to tie and does a very good job of representing the dun stage of a Mayfly. This fly is a dry fly and imitates a Mayfly sitting atop the water drying its wings (dun stage).

To use a dun fly of any kind, including the COMPARA DUN, apply floatant to the fly, and then cast upstream. Allow the fly to float with the current without having the fly make drag or wave of its own. To do this, allow the fly to float with the current. When the fly starts to go past the line, twitch the line so that it returns behind the fly (called 'mending'). When the fly floats as far as you can allow with mending, then gently retrieve and recast upstream again.

This fly is made of brown rooster saddle hackle barbs, antron dubbing, and deer hair. These fibers and the way they are tied is what allows this fly its presentation.
