Description

Turtle Island native American landscape print

The central image of Turtle Island is the Eastern White Pine , the Tree of Peace of the Six Nations. The image of the sky woman is interacting with images of children who are gathered in a semicircle around her. The sky woman instructs the children through song and dance to praise the gifts that grow from their mother the earth. Each of the children represent nations of the Haudenosaunee people. The hawk, bear, deer, turtle, beaver, snipe, eel, heron and wolf are family clans of the nations who find shelter under the tree of peace.
Our ancient and new relations are the stars, grandmother moon and the dawning of our eldest brother the sun. The horizon blends with images of resting wolves with birds as their eyes.
On the shoreline images of wolves drink life giving water. Tree branches form the shapes of howling wolves their songs soar and connect to the wolves in the sky world. In the early morning, the songs of the birds can be heard. Listen and experience a peaceful enjoyment.
