Up for sale here is a stone that I am parting with from my own personal collection. I watched that documentary called The Minimalists and it got me thinking about reducing how much 'stuff' I have, so I went through my personal gem collection and asked myself which stones truly bring me joy, remondite, serandite, Canadian eudialyte, my 1.38ct Tanzanian kornerupine, these were some of the stones that brought me joy. Sadly this dunilite, along with many others I will posting soon, just didn't do it for me.

Dunilite is an unusual stone. It is named for Professor Dunil Gunasekara who was the first person to identify it. It is in the olivine family, part of the 'peridot' (term given to gem grade varieties of forsterite) solid solution series which runs from magnesium rich on one end to iron rich on the other, forsterite and chrysolite being on the Mg end and fayalite being on the iron end with some other less known minerals in the middle. Dunilite is the most iron rich of these minerals. It usually only comes in very small sizes with most stones being a quarter carat or under, in fact most are 10 points or under, and is only found in Sri Lanka.

This all natural and untreated super rare dunilite is from "The Gem Pit" at the Gimigalgad Mine in Kolonne, Sri Lanka. It is 0.15 carats and measures 3.8mm in a trillion cut. It faces up bright and sparkly and is eye clean. I took one photo in natural light and one photo with daylight adjusted fluorescent lighting. This mineral is durable enough for jewelry and has no perfect cleavage planes. This was the finest dunilite I had ever come across in all my years as a rare gemstone dealer, I guess that's why I kept it for my personal collection, truly a superb example of this gem, most likely the finest you will ever see albeit small.

YES! I sell wholesale! Please contact me with your credentials to set up a wholesale account with me. If you are a returning wholesale customer from Wholesalecrafts.com (indieme.com) credentials not required. Wholesale orders all arrive individually packaged in zip lock bags with anti-tarnish strips where necessary so merchandise can sit in back stock if necessary. Each bag will be labeled with item numbers for re-ordering where not a one-of-a-kind and ingredients so your sales staff can answer customer questions. Net 30 is available upon special request only.

All photos were taken with a zoom under daylight adjusted fluorescent lighting unless otherwise stated.

All my loose gemstones are 100% natural and untreated in any way. All my pearls are natural though some have been color enhanced.

Special orders are welcome as are all questions!
