Description

SKELETON LEAVES:
Less than perfect colorful leaf skeletons.
You will receive an assortment of bodhi, waxwood, rubber tree, and magnolia leaves.
Believe it or not, nature is not perfect and neither is my coloring process. These leaves are slightly odd shaped, imperfectly colored, unraveling, or have a bug bite or two. They've got character!

COLOR:
You will receive a colorful assortment like the colors photographed in this listing. These packs contain mostly dyed leaves, but a few will have metallic finishes too. I include a variety of colors in each pack.

QUANTITY:
You select under drop box "Leaves per pack."

SIZE:
Leaves range from 1-9" long.
Expect some variation due to this being a natural product.

QUALITY:
These are "imperfect." Photographs are representative of the color, size, and variation of the item. Expect some deviations in form, to include bug bites, fraying, bends, unusual shapes, pulp flecks. Nature isn't perfect!
All items are stored in a smoke-free environment.

ORIGIN:
Hand dyed and pigmented by Salish Sea Cabin.
Natural leaves are imported from Thailand.

SALISH SEA'S MISSION:
My experience using skeleton leaves in art and crafts has impressed on me the simple beauty of an altered leaf. My intent in offering skeleton leaves for sale is to provide quality, beautiful leaves. You will find that many skeleton leaf providers offer bulk packages of mediocre quality leaves with a few gems. I select and offer for sale the best and most beautiful leaves I can find.

SHIPPING:
Items are carefully packaged during shipping.
Orders are shipped with care via USPS. USPS Priority Mail is available in this shop.

USES FOR LEAF SKELETONS:
table decorations, gift packaging, card making, wall art, collage, jewelry crafts, scrapbooking, wedding decorations, teaching tools

HOW ARE SKELETON LEAVES MADE?
These dried preserved leaves are made by removing the outer pulp from tree leaves, revealing the leaf veins. Leaves are then dried flat.

FAQs:
CAN I BEND THESE?
Yes. I have a video posted on my shop bio where you can see one of my leaves being twisted and bent. They are flexible, and are not so fragile that they will crumble. The plant species used to make to make skeleton leaves are very durable, which allows for a nearly perfect leaf skeleton.

CAN I USE GLUE ON THESE?
Yes. I recommend a spray adhesive. If applied thick, adhesives can bead up and give a frosted appearance to skeleton leaves. I recommend testing your adhesive before use.
These are a natural item, so an acid-free adhesive will lessen the chance of a reaction or yellowing of the adhesive.

CAN I WRITE ON THESE?
Yes. Artists have successfully used paint to write/paint on skeleton leaves. This requires skill and an appropriate paint. The laciness of the leaves can make it difficult for larger text to be visible.

If the order does not arrive within the time estimated by the shipping service, they (USPS, etc) may be able to provide a shipping refund. I cannot provide insurance on lost items unless you purchase shipping insurance.

Refunds may be negotiated. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs, labels, and proper packaging. Refund will process upon receipt of return.

Shipping policies

I ship as soon as possible, but you should expect orders to take at least a day to process (i.e. get ready to be picked up by USPS).

Items will not be packed or shipped until payment has cleared. Note that with echecks this can take about a week.

I strive to make shipping as cheap and efficient as possible. In the event that shipping costs (plus a $1 material and handling cost) are lower than estimated, I will refund shipping overcharges. Just let me know you received your item, and I will verify shipping overcharge.

Priority shipping is insured by USPS.

FAQs

Most glues will "bleed" through the leaf causing a beaded frosty look. I recommend applying glue very precisely, or using a spray adhesive. Using an acid-free glue will prolong the life of your craft.
