Description

This is a beautifully illustrated antique book telling the story of how a Jackdaw becomes a Saint.

This story is by Thomas Ingoldsby (Richard Harris Barham) with 'ye old writing and ye new illustrations by Ernest Maurice Jessop.
It was published by Eyre and Spottiswoode and is undated although it appears to be circa. 1880's.

A large format measuring approx 15x11".
It has a cloth spine and paper covered boards.
The spine cloth is split in several places and is in poor repair, the paper boards are well worn with water damage/stains to the spine corners front and back, top and bottom (please see photographs).
The hinges are damaged front and back but surprisingly for this early form of perfect binding (gutta percha) all pages are still tightly bound, with no loss.

There are no previous owners inscriptions. Pages are unpaginated, but there are 18 pages of text and illustrations..
