A scarab surrounded by an asp or cobra on each side. Something about this vintage Napier piece is mesmerizing.

This is an unusual Napier necklace. The mark on the piece is Napier Sterling. The end-caps on the necklace are exquisite. And the two-sided Egyptian charm reminds me of the Napier Egyptian charm bracelet that was made much earlier.

The pendant on the necklace is a gold plated scarab beetle, the is flanked on either side by a snake. Hanging from the pendant is a single coral glass bead. On the reverse of the pendant is a faux turquoise glass bead the is delicately set with four prongs that resemble bird talons.

The pendant hangs from a multi-chain necklace. At the clasp of the necklace the chains come together under intricate blossom-like caps. The spring-clasp is marked Napier and Sterling.

Condition on the piece is incredible. It should be noted that where the pendant has hung, some of the gold plating has diminished and silver is exposed (visible in the second photo).

Measurements - necklace unclasp is 20 1/2". The pendant alone measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4".
