Item details

Using old family videos as a framing device, I trace my family history back to the city streets of 1960s Bronx, New York; the parking lot of a Lutheran church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and the Jewish ghettos of Kobe, Japan and Shanghai, China throughout World War II in this full color autobiographical comic book.

I look at what Jewish traditions were practiced by mother when she was a child, the ones she carried on in our home, and which ones my brother and I continued as we started adult lives of our own. It is a tale of history, religion, identity, and how strange home movies from the early 1990s look today.
