Description

This is what I call a mixed media encaustic. Encaustic meaning the use of wax. The mixed media involves the use of florals in the artwork. Naming my artwork is as important to me as creating the piece in the first place. My art style is influenced through years of arts and crafts, emphasizing scrapbooking mixed media which one day I just transferred to an art canvas from paper. My inspiration in the naming process comes through the scriptures. For this piece I chose Ezekiel 20:6, "In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;..."

* 16 x 20 Traditional Canvas, 1/2 inch depth on the sides.
* Mixed Media Encaustic (Wax) Crayon by Crayola
* Florals

My process: I view my skills as a spiritual gift (craftsmanship) and have dedicated that whatever I do, it should honor God. Sometimes I have an idea and it comes out the way I saw it and at other times, it comes out differently. In any case, I make the piece and then let it draw me to a passage significant to it. It is a kind of meditative experience. It is my hope that each piece of art reaches the individual that most needs it and that he or she might see the spiritual connection in the visual.
