Description

A Northern King axe sourced from a Minnesota company seemed a fitting tribute to the late Prince. Made by Marshall Wells, this vintage 3.5lb felling axe head was hung on a brand new 28" Tennessee hickory handle, with a custom purple rain paint job, a custom Symbol handle burn, and an appropriate custom leather sheath.

Marshall Wells Hardware Company began in 1892 in Duluth Minnesota, purchased Kelley How Thomson of Duluth in 1955, and was then bought and liquidated in 1958.

All axes and hatchets are restored to the best of their potential. The head is polished, sharpened, and rehung on a genuine American Hickory handle treated with linseed oil. As these are vintage items, every one will be unique, holding within its’ imperfections the stories from a lifetime of use. After restorative treatment they are ready for farm, field, and forest. Included is a hand stitched leather sheath.

A word of warning...these tools are sharp! Respect and care must be taken in order to use these tools safely. Keep it sharp, keep it tight, keep it clean, and it will serve you well for many years. Accidents are often the result of negligence in handling and maintenance.

Could not be any happier with the way this backpacking axe turned out! The attention to detail and quality on this build is unbelievable - it really makes the axe stand out. This thing is light and compact enough to carry on the side of the bag with ease but obviously tough enough to get the job done in the bush. Highly, highly recommend!
