Description

For sale is a vintage 1980s/1990s sterling silver, turquoise and red coral necklace done in a contemporary Zuni inlay style ( other pueblo multi strand coral necklaces not included).

The style reminds me of Zuni inlay but I think it is a Navajo artist who created it. It is a signed with an EP hallmark but I'm not sure who the artist is.

I bought it in the early 1990's in a shop in Albuquerque, NM. I purchased a lot of jewelry that day so the owner as a favor to me offered this necklace to me as a "Thank You" gift. That's why I am passing the savings on to the buyer!

The colors of the red coral and turquoise together has always been a favorite look of mine and looks stunning alone or layered with other necklaces (as pictured).

It is a lovely necklace and the channel inlay work is superbly done. It's made with beautiful natural Mediterranean red coral and a gorgeous high quality spiderweb matrix turquoise.

The artist Navajo artist Ray Tracy (who is a personal friend) created a sensation in the late 1980s/ 1990s to present, with his incredible contemporary inlay designs. There were many artists that acted as apprentices to him and carried on his style of work such as an artist team known as the Super Smiths. Then there are others artists that simply wanted to emulate his work.

This necklace reminds me very much of Ray's beautiful vision of contemporary design using traditional materials such as sterling silver, red coral and turquoise.

I do not polish my silver. If you want an even more gleaming look, it can be easily polished to a high gloss silver.

** If you love this item, feel free to make me a reasonable offer. I may have a lot, ( or just some) wiggle room on the price. It never hurts to ask! Layaway is also available.

Measurements:

Length when worn, from hook clasp to bottom drop pendant is 9 inches.

Length from end to end is 17 1/2 inches.

Pendant alone is 1 1/2 inches long.

FAQs

Vintage Native American Jewelry has been pre-loved and worn and will show natural signs of wear. I disclose all flaws and damage but expect wear consistent with age. Untreated, natural turquoise may show color change with time but often adds to the beauty and character of the piece. Natural turquoise may also have cracks and fissures. If any stones have any significant cracks, they will be noted.

All the jewelry I have collected are one of a kind handmade items. Pieces that are unmarked with an artist hallmark often denote pre-1950's, therefore may not be marked sterling silver but has been tested as such.

Colors do vary from monitor to monitor so if color is important to you please contact me before purchasing
Vintage clothing and accessories have been pre-loved and worn and will show natural signs of wear. I disclose all flaws and damage but expect wear consistent with age such as loose or missing seam stitches, creases, scuffs, fading, moth nibbles, missing hook and eye closures, sticky zippers, etc.

They may also have been exposed to pets, mothballs or smoking. I do not clean or dry clean the items I pick unless otherwise noted in my listing. I recommend my customers wash or take the item to their trusted dry cleaners before wear. If an item has been washed I will note it in the listing.
Measurements for all garments are taken on the outside of the clothing while it is lying flat then doubled. Please compare the measurements with something you already own to be sure you get a good fit.

To help understand my grading of vintage clothing please reference my chart below:

Mint: Like new or never worn
Excellent: Few to no flaws or issues
Great: Gently worn with minor imperfections expected with age. Items are easily repairable & wearable at time of purchase.
Very Good: May have a minor flaw or two that doesn't alter the overall look, wearability or appeal of the garment. May show more wash/wear and age than Great
Good: A bit more flawed than the above, though generally still wearable, good for everyday casual wearing
