Description

Fresh white enamel with a sweet pink, green and blue floral, chintz design on this little pot and lid set!
Too cute! But reliable and rustic too.

This pot is approx 20cm across at the lid and 10cm high. It's clean and bright with just a few little chips that add the character you'd expect with enamelware.
It's light but sturdy and could happily carry your treats to a bbq or be a cheerful camping & kitchen accessory.

Enamelware is (in my simple sort of explanation) a type of vitreous glass application - a bit like a glaze on porcelain. The finish is welded onto the metal at very high heat and is often still hand applied.
Enamels were used in jewellery in ancient time and it's use in cookware goes back to around the 1700's! But it took off in the 1800's as a clean and reliable cookware.

Enamelware has been reliable enough to keep being made and used for centuries and think of those old western movies with the enamel pans & coffee pots on a campfire.  It really was used every day back then.  It's oven and stove top safe but not the microwave - metal base!!
Don't worry if your pan chips - you can still safely use chipped enamelware - treat any open areas with a little oil like you would with an iron skillet. The only thing to be aware of is watch for a sharp edge as you would a chipped ceramic bowl - but I've been using mine for years and it's worn and lovely.

Try not to scratch with anything too abrasive (e.g. cut in it with a knife) and use old fashioned dishwashing soap and water to clean it. Baking soda and lemon helps to lift any small stains. There are many blog posts out there on taking care of your vintage enamelware but it's all easy common sense. Use your lovely things every day!

Love to gift wrap & can send this to your recipient if you wish - just let us know and make sure to put in the new shipping address.

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions & I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Overseas customers - just let us know where you are and I can hold the item while I organise a custom shipping quote for you.
