Description

This powerful poem breaks down the barrier between you and your loved one that’s struggling with addiction. Nothing can make you feel more helpless than to watch them cause harm to themselves. Even though it has to be their choice to make changes, you can let them know that you’re aware of their pain and how much God truly cares for them.

If anything in this world could change someone from who they really are – it’s an addiction to drugs and alcohol. But God gives us the opportunity at every moment to be who He really intended for us to be by seeking help. Talk it over with Him; He loves you and your loved and wants to see you well!

Dancing On A Tightrope

If I could reach inside of you
And fill your heart with hope,
I’d take away your restlessness
That comes from using dope

Whatever gets you through the day
I see that awful curse;
You think you can control it,
But that only makes things worse

It started out so innocent,
But now it’s all you crave
It consumes your mind and soul
And you’ve become its slave

I can see you’re suffering
And how you choose to cope
But I just watch you every day
Dancing on a thin tightrope

I hear you say that you don’t care
What happens to your life,
But that’s just self-destructive thoughts
That cut you like a knife

I think you’d be amazed
At how much your life is worth
If you could have seen God's miracle
At your own precious birth

He’s the One who gave you life
And He’ll never give up on you;
Neither will I, though it hurts me so
To watch what you’re going through

You think that what you’re doing now
Is how you keep it real
But you know you’re in way over your head
When you have to lie, beg and steal

You have a wounded spirit
And drugs just help you hide
Start healing yourself by being aware
Of God's gifts that you carry inside

It may be hard to change your ways
But you don’t need nerves of steel
Courage is yours for the asking
Search for truth about how you feel

Maybe this world has beaten you down
And your tightrope’s starting to fray
But believe in yourself and just hold on
God's help is on the way

We’re human and we make mistakes,
That’s part of living on this earth
But we’re only given so much time
To know what our life is really worth

So instead of dangling from this tightrope
Where you will only fall from grace
I hope you step into Jesus’s light,
For you won’t walk in a safer place
