Description

Offered is a very cool Vintage souvenir from the Casco Camps, of West Poland, Maine. I could not find a lot of information on these camps, but I believe them to have been operating in the 1920s – 1930s -- 1940s. West Poland is located between Thompson Lake and Tripp Pond there in Cumberland Androscoggin County Maine. I have a Silverplate Seafood Fork, made by Wm Rogers, in their New Daisy Pattern, which was introduced in 1910. Whoever originally owned this, was VERY protective of it, because they carved their initials in it TWICE. There is a script H carved in the base of the tines on the front, and an H B carved in the back of the top of the handle. This person certainly did NOT want anyone else using it on one of those GREAT Maine Lobsters !! The fork is 5 3/4” long, over all, the tines reaching back 1 1/4” to the start of the handle. Other than the deliberate marking, it is in very good condition. There is a little wear to the plating on the heel, and the tips of the tines look like they were used well to dig the meat out of shells, but NO dents or gouges. It needs a good polishing. I think this would be a GREAT bit of décor if YOUR camp is near where the Casco Camps were – or if you love Maine history. The postcard I have shown is from the internet, it shows that Casco Camps were quite elegant and worthy of silverplate flatwear. I do NOT own the post card and it is NOT included in the sale with the fork.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS -- shipping is NOT $77.00 – outside the United States

-- I AM HAPPY TO SHIP ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, but international shipping costs vary so much for my vintage items, that I ask my potential international buyers to PLEASE convo me for costs PRIOR TO PURCHASE. The shipping price listed for EVERYWHERE ELSE is intentionally crazy high – PLEASE DO NOT PAY IT WITHOUT CONVOING ME FIRST. I will happily calculate your correct shipping price, based on your location and how you want it shipped . Please understand, I cannot get insurance for many international locations. I can usually only track it within the US. I have had VERY FEW lost items shipped overseas, but I cannot be responsible for it once it goes into the US Post. Overseas buyers may have to pay customs or duty upon receiving their item, but it is NOT my responsibility to pay it for you and I cannot build it into the shipping cost. I will put the exact selling price on the customs forms.

I pack items VERY well and try to ship as inexpensively as is safely possible but I DO add a small bit for supplies.
Please contact me if you have questions or think I have left something out.

Most of my pix are much larger than shown. Use the ZOOM feature for details.

I try to price my vintage items fairly – I want them to find appreciative new homes. If you LOVE an item, but think it is a little out of your range, convo me with an offer and I will see what I can do.

I proudly use, mostly, recycled packing materials. If you have an issue with that, please convo me at purchase.

On things that have to go Priority Mail, I base my shipping cost on the West Coast, which makes a BIG difference on the heavier items. If you are closer, I encourage you to Convo me for an adjusted price.
