This is a classic design 1930's Butterfly Quilt. Wonderfully hand-stitched with butterflies flitting about in random directions. The 10" (25 cm) appliqued squares are set on point with alternating squares of solid green cotton. The hand-appliqued butterflies on white muslin consist of various 1930's cotton prints which are outlined in a blanket stitch with colored embroidery thread to match the print designs. The back of this quilt is the same white muslin as in the butterfly squares.
It measures 72" (182 cm) x 87" (221 cm) and would fit a full-size bed, or it could be used as a coverlet on a queen-sized bed.
The condition of this quilt is good. It has been used over the years, and the fabrics have faded accordingly and uniformly, but it has been well cared for.
