Description

For sale are 3 letters & their envelopes sent to me during the period 1995 - 1997 from Dame Joan Sutherland, which relate to the purchase of 2 costumes & shoes from the Covent Garden production of La Traviata in 1960. She sent them from her home in Switzerland.

The dispute came about after I met Franco Zeffirelli soon after I purchased them, who told me he didn't design those 2 costumes from that production. He was very clear on which ones he did design.

The 2 costumes are now in the historical collection of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

Please Note
These relate to the signed Sotheby's catalogue of Dame Joan Sutherland's costumes & memorabilia which is also listed for sale.

Condition Used
The A4 sized letters were folded horizontally & laterally. The address is covered for photographic purposes only. There are no marks on them. One envelope is not torn, the other two are. The address is covered for photographic purposes. You may request further photos.
